Many participants are able to use financial aid if they are receiving credit for their ISA Internship. You will likely need to be earning credit for your internship in order to qualify for financial aid. Please speak with the financial aid office at your institution for specific requirements.
Payment plans are available for your final payment and can be set up for you for a $25 fee. Please reach out to your Program Manager if you need to set up a payment plan. Payment plans, however, cannot be used for any deposits.
Yes. You may earn academic credit through our School of Record, University of South Florida, or through your home institution by following the proper approval process at your home institution. Please click here for more information about earning academic credit for internships.
An internship applicant must be a current university student or a recent university graduate in good academic standing with a minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher. All applicants must be 18 years of age or older. Certain locations may have additional eligibility requirements. The ISA Internships team reviews applications on a rolling basis. Interested participants are encouraged to begin the application process as early as possible. To read more about eligibility for our programs, click here.
All ISA Internships are unpaid.
Internship programs cancellation policies can be found here.
Recent college graduates are welcome to apply for an ISA Internship.
In most locations, applicants will need to obtain an immigration visa in order to intern abroad. The ISA Internships team will help you through the visa application process, where applicable.
ISA Internships can facilitate programs for students and recent graduates in all of our program locations for citizens of the U.S., Canada, the U.K., New Zealand and Australia. In many cases, we can facilitate internships for other citizenships. Contact us or see here for more information.
Applicants with a GPA that falls below a 2.5 must submit a statement explaining their academic situation. Applicants with a GPA below 2.5 are not eligible to receive academic credit for their internship program through our School of Record. Please note that a low GPA may also limit the applicant's placement prospects.
No! Each supervisor at an ISA Internship will have a command of the English language. If an intern does not have experience with the local language, the intern will be given tasks that can be completed in English. If a participant can speak the local language, more internship opportunities will become available.
We will find you an internship that matches your current skill set and future goals. You may specify your internship placement preferences in your online application and cover letter. However, we cannot guarantee placement with any one organization.
Yes. Please contact us with more information about your chosen location and field of study and we will send you some alumni names!
Yes, you can travel on the weekends and during your free time and are encouraged to do so! You should not however be traveling on days that you are scheduled to be at your internship and are strongly discouraged from asking your supervisor for additional time off as your top priority during the program should be completing your internship. While we want you to explore it must be done during your predetermined free time or before/after your program (should your visa permit). If you're not sure about a trip just check with your Program Manager, Internship Coordinator, or Resident Director and they should be able to help you determine if it will be possible.
Your required internship hours are generally determined by the credit option you select during your application process, however, all ISA interns are required to intern for a minimum of 25 hours per week on any internship program regardless of what your home university designates.
Please note that any hours required by your host organization supersede the minimum hour requirement designated by ISA and/or your home university. This means that many host organizations are likely to still require full time participation at 32-40 hours per week, which will still be required in order to successfully complete the program. While we can indicate a preference for the minimum number of hours to your host organization when making your placement, the best placement option for you may require the additional hours in order to secure an offer, which you should see reflected in your offer letter. All personal travel should be coordinated around your host organization's preferred schedule and interns are not permitted to ask their host organization to reduce hours for personal travel.
