Internships Cancellation Policies

Internships: In-Person Internships Abroad Cancellation Policy

This policy applies to all cancellations, regardless of the reason. Your request to withdraw and receive a refund must be made in writing to ISA. Alternative payment arrangements (financial aid, payment plans, etc.) do not exempt you from this policy.

If you withdraw on or before the Payment Due Date:

  • Before your advising session: $95 application deposit retained
  • After your advising session: $500 retained

If you withdraw after the Payment Due Date:

  • Before your advising session: $95 application deposit retained
  • After your advising session:
    • Before receiving an internship:
      • 30 days or more before the program start date: $500 retained
      • 29 days before the program start date: $95 application deposit retained*,**
      • 28-15 days before the program start date: $1,000 retained***
    • After receiving an internship:
      • 60 days or more before the program start date: $1,000 retained
      • 59-30 days before the program start date: $2,500 retained
      • 29-15 days before the program start date: $3,500 retained
      • 14 days or less before the program start date: 100% of program price retained

*If you have not received an internship or completed any interviews 29 days before the program start date, you may withdraw without assessing any additional cancellation fees. The $95 application deposit is non-refundable.

**If you have failed two or more interviews and decide to withdraw 29 days before the program start date, a $1000 cancellation fee will be assessed.

***If you decide to continue the internship search between 15-28 days before the program start date, you will be liable for $1000 should you withdraw during that period. Additionally, if you do not receive an internship or complete any interviews 15 days before your program start date, we will automatically withdraw you from the program. The $1000 cancellation fee will apply.

  • Should the date of withdraw overlap multiple rows in the schedule above, the cancellation fee retained will be whichever amount is greater.
  • The $95 application deposit is non-refundable once the application has been submitted. If your application is denied due to eligibility requirements, your deposit will be fully refunded.
  • Housing deposits are non-refundable should a student withdraw after the final payment deadline and before the program start date.
  • If a student changes or defers to another one of our programs after the final payment deadline but no later than 30 days prior to the program start date, we will assess a $500 change fee, and the cancellation fee (according to schedule above) will be applied as a non-refundable payment toward the alternative program.
  • Program changes are not permitted less than 30 days prior to a program start date.
  • Signing and returning all documents in your student portal is your responsibility. If you fail to return the documents after repeated notification, you will be deemed withdrawn and will be subject to the cancellation schedule above.

Internships: Intern Abroad Pre-Departure Program Cancellation Policy

If ISA is required to cancel or suspend your program before your program start date, you’ll have:

  • The option to consider an alternative ISA program at a new location using your existing application and any paid fees.
  • The option to change to a later term, waiving any change fees.
  • The option to not attend any program and instead receive a full refund of your ISA Program Fees paid (including your application and program deposits).

If you’ve received an ISA scholarship, it can be applied to a new program or term.

Internships: Intern Abroad Active Program Cancellation Policy

If ISA has to cancel a program while it’s already running, we cannot guarantee a refund but will work closely with our partners and onsite staff to:

  • Recover any associated program costs that can be returned to the furthest extent possible.
  • Present all available options to complete the academic requirements of your program, if possible.
  • Be in direct communication with you and your home institution.
